Cheese Doodle: Booth Barnacles

So O and I were having a discussion revolving around convention disasters, the lovable collections of “That Guy” that can really sour a convention. Sometimes, quite literally due to a sour scent. We might put together a series of “Please don’t be [that guy],” coinciding with our various convention appearances.

But the Booth Barnacle is kind of special. He or she is only really annoying because they cling onto the booth and slow down sales. But they’re clinging onto the booth because they’re a huge fan. So it’s a Catch-22 – the barnacle usually is the most important person to us, but we’re also hella busy during some shows, and we need to be bringing in the cash.

So long story short, O is getting a cyanide tooth so that he doesn’t make anyone feel bad. Me? I’m getting a Bat Signal.

And on the topic of bringing in the cash, here’s the updates on our sale:
Scurvy Dogs: Treasure and Treason is already back from the printers. The first wave will be shipping out Tuesday. If you get your order in before Monday at 3 p.m. EST, it’ll be in the first wave.

There are now less than 15 copies of the uncut sheets of Postumo decks, which are on sale for $40.

And we should be revealing the cover of our first collection, Hello With Cheese: The Cheesen One on Monday. The preorder sale price of $15 lasts until July 4, but feel free to order your copy today.

World Tour Update

Two down, and many more to go.

March 29-31 – Wondercon (Anaheim, CA): Possibly the only Scallywags International show on the West Coast this year. We will update on our booth location when available.

April 20-21 – AwesomeCon (Washington, DC): Hey, ever wanted to sit down and talk to Dern about pirates? Sound awesome? Well, this is the show for you!

June 12-16 – Origins (Columbus, OH): The Scallywags are setting up copies of Scurvy Dogs and Postumo and are ready to game.

July 12-14 – ConnectiCon (Hartford, CT): For the seventh straight year, Dern makes his journey to CTCon. And we just might have a surprise announcement in the works here. Look for us in the OMG.

Aug. 9-11 – Otakon (Baltimore, MD): Also hitting the seventh time in a row, Scallywags International will be at Booth U-06 in the Dealer Room.

Aug. 15-18 – GenCon (Indianapolis, IN): More gaming! Scallywags International will be testing out and showing off some new items, bringing in a special guest, and even hosting a tournament.

The unofficials:
Just a head’s up on the shows we’re working on. We fully expect to be at SPX and Baltimore Comic-Con. We’re on the wait list for SDCC (getting a proper booth takes some time there), and we’re still under jury for two more shows. And finally, there’s a mystery show towards the end of the year that we might add, pending a strong start to the year.

Facebookery 2.0

So last Wednesday, we poked around the mystery of Facebook photos asking for one million likes. It’s a shady practice, and so it’s right up Business Squirrel’s alley.

Well, there’s another tactic to boosting Facebook ranking for fan pages, and it’s far more awesome for you, the fan: Contests.

Every month, we’re going to run a Like and Share contest on Facebook, encouraging people to Like and Share one Classic Cheese from a few years ago. And then at the end of the month, we’ll pick a winner and SEND THEM THE ORIGINAL LINE ART.

That’s right, paper, pencils, and darker pencils (what O used to use for inking). O used to make the comics in a traditional medium, scanning in the dark pencils and adding in color and dialog digitally. But in September of 2011, he switched to full digital, so there’s a finite number of Hello With Cheese comics done this way.

We’re launching this with one of my favorites, the Captain Planet-killing Power of Heart. You can enter to win it by liking and sharing THIS POST HERE.
