There’s going to be some major site changes coming to Hello With Cheese for the foreseeable future.
First, while this is temporary, Hello With Cheese will only be updating on Mondays.
Second, starting next week, we’re going to be updating with a dark, adventuring children’s story called The Woods of Woebedarr.
Well, there’s a lot of reasons going on right now. O and our intern Victoria have really, really been stepping up their game on Commissioned, but that level of detail in the art takes time. While we were able to keep doing three pages of Commissioned and three pages of Hello With Cheese, we didn’t have enough time to work on a secret project. And honestly, the secret projects are what pay the bills around here (see: Scurvy Dogs, Monster Alphabet, Postumo, etc.).
No, really, go read Commissioned. I’m co-writing it now, so in the spirit of vanity, I’ll link the page where my writing started: CLICK HERE.
Then there’s my time constraints. As of writing this, my wife is 36 weeks pregnant. My first son didn’t make it a full 36 weeks (he was premature, but because he was on track to be a 10-pound baby he was one healthy little preemie). We’re sort of in explored territory here, with there being a chance of Baby No. 2 showing up any day now.
Because of this, O and I kicked around a couple different ongoing plot lines to do, including a bit where Dr. Goat works for Doctors Without Borders. I like it, and have all the parts of that jotted down for later goating. But O suggested that he wanted to illustrate a certain type of children’s book, more of the tradition of Dr. Suess or Maurice Sendak. It sparked an idea for me, and I started writing a fairly epic story called The Woods of Woebedarr. It’s going to take about 44 to 48 updates to tell, but I fully expect us to crank back up to 2-3 days a week before we’re done with Woebedarr.
