Once again, I’ve become a little bit obsessed with the latest trendy, internet band that makes fun music. And you know what? I don’t feel the least bit guilty about it. I love it when musicians put so much joy into their music. So yeah, Ylvis:
Also, I need to get my SPX shout-outs done (fact: I used A Song of Ice and Fire hospitality law when doing these shout-outs, limiting it to those I broke bread with).
Big heyo to Jamie Noguchi, master of the Jamie Noguchi System, and person that was horribly wronged for not being award-nominated for his past year of work on Yellow Peril.
And speaking of awards, there’s Harvey Award-winning Daniel Corsetto. I did enjoy reminding her of way back in the bygone era of SPX 2004, when she was just handing out business cards for a little comic called Girls With Slingshots. I wonder how that turned out.
Any time I get to spend with Joe and Phil from the Digital Pimps is special time.
Finally, at the end of the year, I got to hang out with some people I’ve been just missing all year, like Lee Cherolis of Little Guardians, or Chris Williams of Christopher, or Samantha Kyle of Random Assembly. Quality people, aces all around.
And in a best-for-last situation, probably the single favoritest comic discovery for me this year was Phuzzy Comics by Monica Ray. I was planning on psyching myself up to buy her book on Saturday, but accidentally met her a day early and did not come off as a crazy fanboy (I hope). But seriously, her comic writing is something I’m insanely jealous of. It’s fun and light and full of personality. So if you don’t click on the link to her comic, I will judge you.
Seriously, I’m judging you right now.
That’s right, the dude that just made you watch a video about foxes going Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding is judging you.
Judging you hard.
